 Meal Suggestions

You will need to plan out, purchase, and cook your own meals for this trip. Every room will have a kitchen stocked with dishes, pots, pans, cutlery, and utensils. Each room will be given $50.00 per student to purchase groceries.

Meals that you will need to plan for:

Thursday 3/26 – None!

Friday 3/27 – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Saturday 3/28 – Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner

Sunday 3/29 – Breakfast and Lunch

A Few Tips:

  • DRINK LOTS OF WATER! Most illnesses on the trip start with a lack of hydration.
  • PLAN IN ADVANCE! You will only have 1 hour in the grocery store so plan your meals and shopping list in advance. When you get to the grocery store divide the shopping list amongst roommates to save time.
  • Don’t forget fruits and veggies – yes we’re on a fun Spring Trip, but let’s not make ourselves ill with junk food!
  • Keep in mind the time you have to prepare meals – you can get as fancy as rack of lamb, or as simple as a frozen pizza, just make sure you have the skills, equipment and time to prepare it!
  • Watch your caffeine intake, remember what your parents have taught you about eating balanced, and always take note of food requirements (like allergies) of your roommates.
  • Remember to purchase you spices for cooking! The kitchens will not have items like salt, pepper, etc.
  • Do not buy charcoal, lighter fluid, or lighters/matches!

Breakfast Ideas

  • Instant oatmeal
  • Breakfast cereal (Don’t forget the milk)
  • Eggs and bacon and toast
  • Bagels and cream cheese
  • Granola bars and bananas
  • Orange or other Fruit Juice

Lunch/Dinner Ideas

  • Sandwich and chips and fruit
  • Microwaveable TV Dinners
  • Ramen or canned soups
  • Salad with pre-cooked chicken (don’t forget dressing!)
  • Dinner Ideas
  • Frozen pizza or other family-sized frozen meals – family size works great for a whole room
  • Grilled chicken and vegetables with a microwaveable rice packet
  • Steak, potatoes and green beans
  • Stir fry – simple as beef and broccoli with a premade stir fry sauce and rice
  • Baked potatoes with premade BBQ beef

General Trip Guidelines

Luggage – Be sure all your luggage and instrument cases are clearly marked with your name, address and phone number. One suitcase, and one backpack only!

Schedule – Keep a copy of the itinerary with you at all times. Be punctual! Wear a watch. It is not fair to the rest of the group to ever have to wait for you.

Security – Most of you will be carrying money and valuables. Be aware that these things can “disappear” at any time. Be careful! Don’t leave luggage, purses, cameras, bags, horn cases, etc. in an unsecured area.

Shoplifting – Everywhere you go and whatever you do, be sure to handle all merchandise in an open, straightforward manner. Do not give anyone the slightest impression that you could be doing something that could get you thrown in jail.

Authority of Adults – Directors, chaperones, hotel personnel, and many other adults are always in charge. These adults are present to help you have a fun and safe trip. They ARE NOT present to “wait on you.” Be polite and respectful at all times. Cheerfully follow instructions the first time they are given.

Public Displays of Affection – These are strictly prohibited at all times, in all places, when traveling with the Cinco Band. Repeated violations may result in serious disciplinary action.

Stay in a Group – Everywhere you go, have at least one “Cinco Band Buddy” with you of the same gender. This includes the hotel property and all sightseeing trips. NEVER go off alone!! Any student found alone by an adult will be disciplined.

Beach and Ocean – Directors will set the beach boundaries upon arrival. No one is to go beyond 6 inches deep into the ocean

Hotel Guidelines -       a. Keep your room reasonably neat and clean at all times

  1. All pay items (movies, room service, etc) will not be available
  2. Chaperones can and will enter rooms at any time for inspections
  3. Any suspicious activity will be investigated immediately
  4. Curfew will be strictly adhered to – your door will be taped
  5. Quiet hours will be strictly enforced – This means being quite while in your room!
  6. The hotel will have many other guests, so be courteous and quiet
  7. Never congregate in the hallways

Citizenship – Always be a great citizen! Remember that all future band trips depend upon what happens on this trip.

Illness/Injury – Please report to a chaperone quickly if you ever start to feel ill or are hurt.

Medicine – If you take prescription medication, it must be kept with the band directors. Let us know well in advance of the trip departure if you will need our nurse to assist you during the trip. Medication disbursement times are clearly marked throughout the itinerary. It is your responsibility to take your medication.

Get some sleep - On a busy trip like this, it is crucial for you to get as much rest as possible. At “lights out,” try to get to sleep quickly.
